Directors Required :  Canterbury Neighbourhood Centre

Canterbury Neighbourhood Centre (CNC) is committed to being the vibrant centre of its community and we need community minded people to help us grow. We are seeking new board members with a genuine interest in community and connecting people through social, educational and recreational activities and events.

CNC is a not-for-profit community based Neighbourhood Centre.
The voluntary Board is responsible for the governance of CNC, ensuring that our organisation meets all legal and financial requirements and remains accountable to funders, stakeholders and the community.

We are particularly interested in applications with skills in community development and engagement, finance and accounting, marketing or I.T.
We welcome all applications including potential first time Board members.

The Board meets monthly, with some activity though the month.

Boroondara Climate Action Plan

In response to request from Council staff for submissions from the community on content of the plan, CCAG made a submission during September.

Maling Road Commercial Waste Handling Facilities

We are thrilled to share a positive development around improving the amenities in our community at Maling Road.

About 7 years ago CCAG, with active community support, started an initiative to move the unsightly bins located at the rear of Theatre Place to a new enclosure located out of sight within VicTrack land. We saw this as a major way to improve both the aesthetics and cleanliness of the area for community and trader benefit.

Commissioning of facilities is expected late in October when the  bins in the lane at the rear of the old picture theatre will be relocated to this facility.  This will in turn release the lane for alternate use and improve ambience of this area.

Maling Road Heritage Facade Maintenance Grants

We are excited to note that Boroondara Council have announced the opening of grant applications for commercial property owners or occupiers as part of the Maling Road Place Plan.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available to fund restoration works, upgrades or improvements to heritage building facades with applications closing on October 21
